Our adventures began just outside the Lincoln Tunnel in New York City, one Sonsi team member looked to the other and said, “My engine thermostat gauge seems awful high, better pull over.”
The hood was steaming and upon examination a broken hose spewing engine coolant was found. The small SUV wasn’t going anywhere.
Then a few stories resulted:
- Long tow truck wait outside the Lincoln Tunnel (and we mean long)
- Lost BCBG Dress found on NYC sidewalk
- A quick change in hotel women’s locker room
- Traffic accident (no worries, we weren’t involved)
- Closed dealership (even after the long tow truck wait)
- Impromptu opening speech
Even though we encountered a few misadventures prior to the Opening Night of Full Figured Fashion Week, we couldn’t have asked for a more FANTASTIC event.
Blvd combined feng shui and classic New York style, with a full figured twist of fashion. Complete with long white curtains, a disco ball and dance music, the runway extended into a crowd full of energy, ready to celebrate their curves. Sonsi-tini’s (click here for delicious the recipe) were in hand as guests watched designer collections from Kim Khanbeigi of Kiyonna, Angel L. Meyers of The Angel Alternative, upcoming designer SKWilbur, and a beautiful array of fall and winter coats from LaTressa Harper of LaDan’s Closet and many others. The complimentary Sonsi photo booth was a huge success stationed next to a table full of fabulous jewelry designed by Corinthia Peoples.

The Sonsi team finally got to meet some of the bloggers we have been following for months face to face! Daily Venus Diva, Luvin’ My Curves, The Big Girl Blog and Madison Plus to name a few. Yuliya Raquel from IGIGI and Susan Moses, one of our expert fashion and beauty bloggers, were also in attendance and we were thrilled to spend our evening with such well-known designers. Everyone was so friendly and thrilled to hear about Sonsi!
Tonight is the Full Figured & Fabulous Runway Model Competition also at Blvd. We can’t wait to watch the models take the cat walk and show off their runway skills for a chance to win $1000 cash prize. Wednesday night’s energy was so positively high that we’re sure it will flow over into Thursday night’s Runway Event.
