Full Figured Fashion Week 2010 has come and gone and in my mind I am already planning the events I will attend next year.
My anticipation was high as I prepared for an exciting week filled with shopping, dancing, panels, model competitions and lots of Sonsi-tinis. Time seemed to fly pretty quickly, before I knew it, it was time for the Finale Runway Showcase. This year, my design partner and I the amazing Sunil Ramchandani debuted a small collection of evening wear, “The Susan Moses Collection.” We poured our hearts into eleven pieces and the response was beyond our wildest imaginations, I am proud to say that the collection received a standing ovation.
I also just want to share the day with you. Everyone arrived at 12pm, for final fittings, hair, make-up, plenty of hugs and girlfriend chatter. We had an unbelievable bevy of beauties in The Susan Moses Collection Runway Showcase. I was honored to have the first plus sized super model “Emme.” The beautiful icon, “Angellika.” Carla Triplett from season seven of The Biggest Loser. The gorgeous “Mia Amber.” And “Sheridan” the winner of Tyra’s Teen Plus Model Competition. I also have to acknowledge the rest of the breathtaking catwalkers from Wilhelmina’s Curve Division, Bernadett, Jennifer, Sarah Slick, Wyinnetka and Jordan Tesfay. Nicole from The Goddess Agency also graced us with all of her dangerous curves. The day began with Emme announcing that Full Figured Fashion Week had made the cover of The New York Times, and of course once that was said, there was a round of thunderous applause and lots of conversation about the fact that FFFWeek is being discussed and acknowledged by the mainstream media both here and abroad.

I felt good as I looked around back stage, because there was so much positive energy between models, designers and the wonderful volunteers. For over a decade, I have been a “Celebrity Stylist,” but tonight I joined a new club- tonight I put on my “Designer” cap and I was in extraordinary company. There was the fabulous Qristyl Frazier from Project Runway. The amazing Yuliya Raquel, creator of “Igigi” and the dynamic Monif C. I must mention I have called Igigi and Monif C. on numerous occasions for some of their beautiful pieces for my celebrity clients. In total, there was twelve designers and over forty models and a sizzling hot runway.
During the show, Emme engaged the audience with brief but clever interviews with each designer, so the audience could get to know a little something about the inspiration and the thought behind the designs.

I wish I could have put the day and the evening in a lovely bottle and share my experience with all of you, there was just so much respect, focus, integrity and celebration. The common goal was clear, and that was to have a great show. Mission accomplished!!! And kudos to the great Visionary, Gwen DeVoe.
