The Runway Represents!

Me and the Get Dressed Inc. team spent approximately one month prepping, fitting and styling New Jersey’s Full Figured Fashion Week. There were thirty models, three shows and over one hundred and thirty looks that graced the runway. We featured daytime glamour, red carpet and cocktail, bridal, swimwear and resort. That month took me back to the beginning of my career...before the celebrity styling and Hollywood there was fashion show production, editorial photo shoots, and sh ... READ MORE

New You

In late 2011 I realized that I was in an unusual state of exhaustion. The last two years had not been easy. I had taken countless flights for work, walked miles through showrooms, malls and stores shopping for clients. And I had been devastated by the loss of some really special loved ones. Fashion has always been and will always be one of my greatest passions. I am eternally for grateful for all of my blessings, including my career. But when shoes, handbags and a fabulous dress didn’t make my ... READ MORE

Dressed to Thrill!

Recently I was at luncheon with some of the most fabulous innovators in fashion and one of the ladies asked “Do you all think that there are certain fashion risks that curvy women won’t take because they feel like they are being pre-judged in regards to what they should or should not wear?”   The general consensus in the answer to the question was yes! The fact is, that when it comes to fashion for plus sizes, the retail stores barely make anything on trend available to us, ... READ MORE

Coats, Capes and Moto Jackets RULE!

It’s eighty degrees in New York, and I am on my way to Lincoln Center to see Tadashi Shoji’s spring runway presentation at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. The ironic thing is that although it’s a beautiful warm summer day, and I am totally geeked about viewing the Spring 2012 Collections, I am equally excited to jump in a taxi and try on a double pure wool and pony skin coat at the Marina Rinaldi boutique.   You might think that it’s a bit early to think about purchasing any outer ... Where Will We Shop?

There is a silent trend taking place in major department stores around the country in regards to plus sizes that needs our immediate attention and our voice.   Recently, I was in Saks Fifth Avenue when some of my favorite salesladies in the Salon Z department greeted me with some very sad news. They informed me that Saks will be closing Salon Z, which carries sizes 14-24, in December in each of their stores around the country. Plus sizes will only be sold online.   &nbs ... READ MORE

Plus-Size, Full Figured, or Curvy?

Lately, there has been a lot of public debate about using the label “Plus-Size” in regards to clothing. One well-known celebrity even said that “Plus-Size” is a label that needs to be buried all together. But frankly, what I think we as a society need to bury are the negative connotations that go along with the label.   When did “Plus” become such an awful word? Whether the word is used as an adjective, noun or conjugated into a sentence, the true meaning of “Plus” ... READ MORE

Tribute to Mia Amber Davis

The Pulitzer Prize winning novelist, editor and professor Toni Morrison recently stated on Oprah that everyone should have a sacred place in their life where they are completely free. It is that place where they release their truth and let their light shine.  Supermodel Mia Amber Davis found her place. It was on the runway, in front of the camera and proudly advocating  size acceptance and fashion forward clothing options for plus size women whenever the right opportunities presented itself. ... You Fancy, Huh

There will always be certain fabrics and cuts that are thought of as fancy... Lace, chiffon, sequins, billowy peasant cuts and ruffles seem to all say “Save me for the right time or the perfect occasion!” This season the right time is whenever you want it to be. It’s perfectly fine to rock your lady like luxe from day to evening. From 70’s inspired silhouettes to minimalist chic, I declare this a season for fancy! I have to tell you I have embraced this wonderfully textured season whole ... READ MORE

Once You Wear Black…

Spring is on the way and there is an explosion of neon colors, tribal patterns bright stripes and whimsical florals. And while I am totally excited about this season’s hottest trends, I have mixed feelings about departing from the strongest neutral color on the planet “BLACK.” Black is sophisticated, sexy, chic, modern, strong, pure and classic. I love black. And I know I am not alone. A lot of people will read this and say me and all women who are in love with black garments love black be ... READ MORE

The Coldest Winter Ever: Tips to Stay Warm While Keeping Your Pretty Swagger

This weekend I had the pleasure of seeing my client and friend Nikki Blonsky in the wonderful play Love Loss and What I Wore. This show is an intimate collection of stories that uses clothing and accessories and the memories they provoke to tell funny, heartfelt stories that many women can relate to. The stories included everything from purchasing your first bra to trying on clothes in front of the dreaded three-way mirror in your favorite department store. As I sat in my seat laughing and a ...
